| In
1984, I saw The Alarm open for the Pretenders
in Cleveland, Ohio. Incredible show, especially since it was the first time I had seen a band come out and play their entire set acoustically. For a teenager in the 80's, this was pretty heady stuff! Suffice to say, I was alittle disappointed when I bought 'Declaration' the next day and there were electric guitars all over it. Nonetheless, this is a powerful album that laid the foundation for their next album. |

| The
Alarm achieved U2 status
with this, their best album. Pretentious anthems evoking melodramatic dialogues that never fail to make me miss the 80's. Damn good stuff. Too bad that they went downhill after this record. So promising . . . |
