A wunderkind of sorts, Steven Jones holed himself up in his bedroom flat in England and recorded an
enormous amount of songs. This is a collection of his best stuff, amazingly released in the US. Will wonders
never cease?

With mentors like Paul McCartney, how can you lose? Well, for a while Badfinger didn't - they scored some
hits that are still vital today. However, living in the shadow of The Beatles (they were dubbed the 'Next Big
Thing') forced them to breakup, and also led to Pete Ham's suicide years later.

A fun record. Unfortunately over the years, the joke has worn thin and they've turned themselves into the
Weird Al Yankovic of the power pop set. Still, this first album is pretty good.

The precursor to Jellyfish. Really only a must have if you're a die hard Jellyfish fan. Otherwise, save your

The TRUE King of Rock 'n' Roll! Sure, Elvis brought rock to the white masses, but if it wasn't for Chuck,
Elvis would have been just another country and western balladeer.

I LOVE THIS RECORD!!! Plus, it's difficult to describe! British, a jazz-pop, soft-rock, Britpop kind of thing
going on. They released a few other albums after tthis one, but the Chrysalis records (in their infinite
wisdom) decided to pass on the rest of the Bible's catalog, citing poor sales of this release. Morons.

I'm in Love with a Girl
What a wonderful band! It's criminal that they were so overlooked. Only now are people realizing how
fantastic Big Star was. Power Pop hooks with a Beatle-y feel and a 70s innocence. Doesn't get much
better than this.

The Bizarros
From Akron
1977 Clone Records
Lady Doubonette
I, Bizarro
Jackson's Pride
Ice Age
White Screen Movies

In the mid-late 70s, there was this crazy little thing called 'The Akron Sound.' Devo and Rachel Sweet were
born of this, and eventually Chrissie Hynde would form the Pretenders as a result of this. A couple of other
quasi-famous groups that came from this region were The Bizarros and The Rubber City Rebels. This
release is actually side one of the album From Akron, with the Rebels on side two. Very cool late 70s punk.

A brilliant debut fromthis very talented singer-songwriter. At times Beatle-y, a touch ELO, and with the help
from Andy Sturmer (Jellyfish), you can't go wrong.

Blind Faith

Had to Cry Today
Can't Find My Way Home
Well All Right
Presence of the Lord
Sea of Joy
Do What You Like
A one-off supergroup that actually toured for a bit! Imagine that ! Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, and Ginger
Baker
offer up a nice slice of mellow, late 60's head rock. Pretty cool stuff.

More Than a Feeling
Peace of Mind
Foreplay / Long Time
Rock & Roll Band
Smokin'
Hitch a Ride
Something About You
Let Me Take You Home Tonight
Ah, the start of corporate rock. Actually a very good record, despite its antiseptic feel to it. I'd enjoy it much
more if classic readio didn't play a track off this thing every 5 seconds.

Boys Brigade
Boys Brigade

The Passion of Love
Melody
Exodus
Saigon
The Cut-Up (Breaking
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Glass)
Into the Flow
Africa
Mannequin
Anger (The Hunter)
Unfortunately, this was the only album Boys Brigade put out. A great pop-rock album, it had two hits with
'The Passion of Love' and 'Melody.' Big surprise that Geddy Lee of Rush produced the record - this band
has as much to do with Rush as Boy George, but obviously Geddy knew a good thing when he heard it -
this is one of my desert island discs.

Martin Briley
One Night with a
Stranger

1983 Mercury Records
The Salt in My Tears
Just a Mile Away
Put Your Hands On
..... ......... .... the Screen
Maybe I've Waited
..... ......... ..... Too Long
She's So Flexible
A Rainy Day in New York City
I Wonder What She Thinks of Me
Dumb Love
One NIght with a Stranger
Essentially a studio musician who ventured onto the pop scene of the 80s. Although Briley has recorded
several albums, he's best known for the MTV hit, 'The Salt in My Tears,' which is found here.

Jon Brion
meaningless
2000 Flywheel Records
Gotta Start Somewhere
I Believe She's Lying
Meaningless
Ruin My Day
Walking Though Walls
Trouble
Hook, Line and Sinker
Dead to the World
Her Ghost
Same Mistakes
Voices
As a member of The Grays and as part of Aimee Mann's backing band, Jon Brion has quietly created a
reputation as a musician's musician. His first solo album proves that reputation is warranted. This man is
extremely talented; and anybody that covers a Cheap Trick tune, (with respect), is alright by me.

Ian Brown
Golden Greats
1999 Interscope Records
Gettin' High
Love Like a Fountain
Free My Way
Set My Baby Free
So Many Soldiers
Golden Gaze
Dolphins Were Monkeys
Neptune
First World
Babasonicos

CD Bonus Tracks:
Love Like a Fountain (US Version)
Dolphins Were Monkeys
..... (UNKLE vs. SOUTH Remix)
After The Stone Roses called it a day, John Squire formed The Seahorses and tried the BritPop thing.
Waiting another year former lead singer Ian Brown released this, his first solo album. Pseudo-dance,
pseudo-industrial, Brown makes a very good argument for being a talented singer.

CD Bonus Track:
Do I Have to Come Right
..... ..... ..... ..... Out and Say It?
A fantastic example of how great country rock can be. Giving birth to (or furthering) the careers of Stephen
Stills
and Neil Young, the Springfield was an extremely influential band despite its short life span. This is a
must have for any collector.

Buggles
The Age of Plastic
1980 Island Records
Living in the Plastic Age
Video Killed the Radio Star
Kid Dynamo
I Love You (Miss Robot)
Clean, Clean
Astroboy (and the Proles
...................... On Parade)
Johnny On the Monorail
The band that changed the face of television. Or something like that. Yes, the first video ever aired on MTV
is 'Video Killed the Radio Star.' Boy, did it ever! But from 1981 - 1997, MTV still played good music. And
it all started with this New Wave band.

From the ashes of dada, springs this great new group from Michael Gurley. As you'd imagine, this album
leans heavily on Gurley's dada-esque songs, but that is a good thing. His were always more pop-oriented,
more radio friendly anyway. A very good start. Hope there's alot more.

Love That Never Dies
The American Beatles . . . for awhile, at least. I was never a big Byrds fan, but you have to have some of
stuff to complete any collection. They got a bit too psychedelic-country for my tastes, but this album is a nice
one to have. All the hits that you need . . . plus it serves as a great intro to Buffalo Springfield and Crosby,
Stills, and Nash
.
