How is the Air Up There?
Their debut EP released to an unsuspecting public. Made nary a ripple in the pond of life. Too bad -- there's
some good stuff here.

With MTV in full swing, these California girls had a better chance at success. Thanks to the video for 'Hero
Takes a Fall,' this album sold respectfully well. Still heads above The Go-Go's, in my book.

With fame comes the strange -- Prince reportedly vowed his undying love for Susannah Hoffs (guitar, vocals)
and gave the group their first big hit: 'Manic Monday.' This one also has possibly the worst song ever: 'Walk
Like an Egyptian.' The Big Star cover and 'If She Knew What She Wants' saves this record for me.

Their last album (before their break-up) was a wonderful record, probably their best. Great songs,
wonderfully perfomred and produced. Even the sappy 'Eternal Flame' is easy to take. The Bangles did re-
form in 2000 or so and released a new alkbum, but so far it's only available as a Japanese import. Maybe
someday . . .

Except for a couple of mediocre tracks, this reunion album is one of the best. And it certainly holds up very
well to the rest of The Bangles catalog. Here's hoping there's more from this great group.
