The first album by the hip hop folk-rapper. At first I though Beck was another Vanilla Ice: awhite boy who
wanted to rap, and those combinations are ALWAYS pathetic. In fact, I hated Beck with a passion (until the
next album, that is), and went back to the beginning for this one.

This is an incredible album! Unfortunately, I didn't get into Beck like the rest of the world at the time and see
everything he did as genius. Now I do, though. Absolutely brilliant!

A very relaxed, psychedelic album from Beck. Interesting choice after the crazy success of Odelay. But that's what makes this guy a genius and an true artist - never cashing in on what he's done before, he stretches his art in new and exciting ways. This one's probably for fans only, but that could be said about ALL of his albums.

On his fourth release, Beck takes on the Acid Rock/Funk feel of the early 70's. You can just imagine that he
was jamming on James Brown, The Temptations, P-Funk, Blue Cheer, and a host of others while
preparing for this record. Great stuff!

Written after a brutal breakup, this is a very deep, emotional record. ALl I can really say about it is that it's
probably Blood On the Tracks for the new millenium. A wonderful album - too bad it cost him his heart.

Only Beck can come up with an album that's a little brighter, yet still as dark, as his last one. A Latino vibe is
all over this thing, and it's always interesting to see how Beck can meld and mold different styles together.
The man is a genius.

A return to form of sorts. Beck kicks off the LP rapping - something that he hasn't done for awhile. While the
CD may be a tad long (the equivalent of a double album) and become tedious to listen to in one sitting, it is
a very good record. Maybe not his best, but even Beck's worst is better than most of the garbage out there.

Bonus Track:
Timebomb
For this one, Beck took on the late 60s garage band / Motown genres and made them his own. Not only
does he put his own stamp musically on this genre, he also is branching out lyrically. This is the most
political and socially aware album Beck has done yet. How this guy can continue to create music of this
caliber is beyond me. Also includes a bonus track of 'Timebomb'.
